The Edwardian era also known as 'La Belle Epoque' was a time of frivolity and wealth for the Upper Classes mainly because of the fun loving and 'playboy' King Edward VII. Jeweller's responded to these flamboyant times with beautiful delicate jewellery often featuring circle, floral and bow motifs. Brooches were extremely popular and were often placed on ribbon around the wearer's neck to create a colliers de chien or ‘dog collar’. Pearls were also very popular in the Edwardian era and were seen as more valuable than diamonds.
This pretty brooch has a floral frame with peridot set gems and seed pearls. It is in great condition and has the safety chain and pin still attached.
It measures 5.5cm.
