Vintage Pin Cushion Necklace

Vintage silver pin cushion from a chatelaine on a handwired sterling silver and swarovski crystal chain. THe pin cushion still holds some of the original pins and is hallmarked A A with a horses head. We have been unable to trace the origin of this mark but believe it is from the US. A totally unique necklace

Engraved pin cushions were often one of the components of a ladies chatelaine. A chatelaine was generally carried by the lady of the house and was a decorative belt hook or clasp worn at the waist with a series of chains suspended from it. Each chain was mounted with useful household items such as scissors, fruit knives, thimbles, watches, keys, small purses, stamp cases and pencils. 

The pin cushion is 4cm iin diameter and the total length of the necklace including the pin cushion is 90cm (45cm from the neck)
