This beautiful necklace features an 1906 sterling silver British threepence with pearl, Peruvian opal and crystal drops on a gold plate on sterling silver chain.

The British threepence was know as a threepence or threepenny bit and was first used in England during the reign of Edward VI (1547-53). All threepence minted from 1816 to 1919 were made of sterling silver and those produced between 1920 and 1946 were half silver, half nickel.

These coins were often made into bracelets by soldiers serving in WWII to send home to their sweethearts. This coin is from one of these bracelets.

The coin measures 1.5cm and the chain measures 45cm.
