This beautiful necklace features a 1935 British threepence in a heart pendant and on a sterling silver box chain.
The British threepence was know as a threepence or threepenny bit and was first used in England during the reign of Edward VI (1547-53). All threepence minted from 1816 to 1919 were made of sterling silver and those produced between 1920 and 1946 were half silver, half nickel. These coins were often set in pendants and given as love tokens.
The coin pendant measures 3cm x 2.5cm and the chain measures 45cm.
