Beautiful necklace with white freshwater pearls, stunning faceted sapphire, ruby and peridot rondelles and a 1939 British threepence and ruby and sapphire hearts.
The British threepence was know as a threepence or threepenny bit and was first used in England during the reign of Edward VI (1547-53). All threepences minted from 1816 to 1919 were made of sterling silver and those produced between 1920 and 1946 were half silver, half nickel. Gems were often added to these coins and given as love tokens.
The pearls measure 0.4cm x 0.4cm. The total length of the necklace is 41cm with a 4cm chain extension.
