Totally unique Georgian gold cased bloodstone fob seal on a gold fill chain. This necklace is a real treasure and one of a kind piece.

The Georgian period was 1714-1837.

Seals were engraved gold or other metal medallions attached to fobs, used for marking a person's signature impression in sealing wax for important documents or other correspondence, or purely for ornamentation. They often had a ring for suspension from a chatelaine or watch chain.

The seal measures 2cm x 2cm and the chain measures 68cm in total but can be worn shorter.

Gold fill has the same desirable properties and look of solid gold. It won’t tarnish and will not rub off. If treated with care gold filled jewellery can be worn daily without fear of fading or rubbing off.
