Art Deco 9ct Gold Topaz Brooch
This product is sold out
Beautiful 9ct gold Art Deco bar brooch featuring topaz stones and hallmarked Chester 1910-1920. A unique treasure.
Chester hallmarked gold jewellery is quite rare. The UK has been home to numerous assay offices including Birmingham, London, Sheffield, Edinburgh and Chester. In 1962, Chester closed its doors for good. Not only did this closure decrease the number of assay offices in the UK down to four, it also increased the desirability of pieces previously hallmarked in Chester.
The brooch measures 6.5cm.
These type of bar brooches have a variety of uses. They can be used to extend chains, join bracelets to make a necklace or you can add charms to them to create a unique pin brooch.
Brooches are enjoying a revival and, most importantly, they are shedding their reputations as being reserved for women of a certain age. They have been a staple since the Bronze Age, when they were used as a practical means for securing clothing and have become ever more versatile over time.
