This one of a kind necklace features a beautiful sterling silver vesta case on a sterling silver bead link chain. The vesta case has floral engraving and is hallmarked Birmingham 1906 and the makers mark CE & FD Ltd for Constantine & Floyd who operated out of Caroline St, Birmingham. A totally unique and stunning necklace.
Vesta Cases were small portable boxes used to carry vestas (short matches) and were carried by men and women alike. So called after the name of one of the early makers (which was taken from the goddess Vesta, a Roman deity of fire and the hearth), they came into use around the 1830s and were produced extensively between 1890 and 1920.
The vesta case measures 4cm x 3cm. The total length of the chain is 55cm.
